AMP Show

On Friday we had the AMP show. There wasn't much to do but we all got to go through the hall with all the creations that people had made. Me and my friends made pig cookies but they didn't really look like pigs. The teachers made cakes to represent our classroom and ours came second. Overall I think the AMP show was quite boring.

Top ten tips for year sevens going into year 8

Top ten tips for year 7 going into year 8

  1. Be prepared to leave, if you get bored of intermediate that is a good sign that you are ready for high school.

  1. Keep away from girls  - Nogo Sipeli 2020

  1. Keep the classroom clean or Mr. Redmond will make you sit on the mat of shame.

  1. People don’t think you are cool when you push past everyone. If you just wait by the door people will respect you and therefore treat you with that respect.

  1. Honestly Dating at a young age will never be a good idea, having a significant other means loving them, i'm not saying that you can’t love. But our brains haven’t even gotten to the stage where we want an actual lover.

  1. Be child friendly, you may realize there are juniors (5-7 yr olds) in the school, that means no swearing or bad language.

  1. Make sure you have your stuff being organised and don’t be a stupid fool. if you run out of stationary just buy some more.

  1. Don’t play games on your computer, remember teachers can see your screen.

  1. Be friendly to the little  kids, they will one day be seniors and yu need to make a good impression.

  1.  And finally, don’t be afraid to make new friends that you have never talked to before. It could change your life, you could make life time best friends you never knew you needed.

maths

Today I made a octagonal pyramid with card. I spent a few minutes trying to glue it but I failed so I taped it instead. I wasted a lot of time colouring in the tape as well. It has nine vertices, sixteen edges and nine faces.

Sorting polygons

For maths today I sorted shapes into two groups: Polygons and Not Polygons.

The rules of Polygons are they need to be closed and not opened, they have to be 2D, They need to have straight sides and no curves.

If the lines are intersecting it is a complex polygon.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The second thing I did was a polygon match, polygons are named by how many sides they have. So I had to sort out the polygons by their sides and names.

Polygons

This is my slideshow on different polygons.

Why do we need manners in the classroom?

Why do we need good manners in the classroom?

Why do we need good manners in the classroom? I think that people aren't using their manners that much and I think people could use their manners more by-

  1. Saying Hi or Hello to people (also say hi or hello back to people).

  2. Saying Please and Thank you because it's respectful.

  3. Keeping your hands to yourself, people may get upset if you hurt them and sometimes if it's just play fighting that's still not ok because it may turn into a real fight.

  4. If you don't have anything nice to say don’t say it because you may hurt other people's feelings.

  5. Complimenting and encouraging people to do their best can boost their confidence and make people feel better.

  6.  Picking up your mess because then people don't expect to have to clean up after you.

  7. Smiling at people makes people feel like they are liked.

  8. Be honest, if you tell a lie you will lose people's trust and they might not trust you again.

  9. Don’t talk in class. It's disrespectful and rude, some people won’t hear what others are saying.

  10. Don’t get in other people’s personal space.

  11.  Be humble, don’t brag about everything because people will think that you are a ‘show off’ or ‘know it all’.

I think that when you use your manners people feel like you're a respectful and kind person that cares about other people and their feelings. Try to make sure that you treat people the way you want to be treated, if you want to be treated nicely be nice. I think that the world would be a better place if everyone used their manners.

If you feel upset then keep thinking of all the good things in life. If you are mean to people then you may get in trouble.

One compliment could make someone who is very sad happy. Everyone makes mistakes and if you make a mistake own up to it, if you said or did something mean say sorry to the person. Please try to use your manners. More people may like you if you're kind and use your manners.

We did a kahoot about our country Aotearoa, I came second.
Then we had a run around outside. After break we did a quizlet, there were lots of different teams, they were all named after animals, my first group was called the Ostriches, my second team as the wolves and my last team was the alpacas. My team won the last round in the alpacas.
We had another run around after that.

Work

My fingers are numb from clicking away at my keyboard for a few long drifting hours.
The sound just fills my head, it irritates me. I can’t stop the sound ringing in my head,
click click click’... but I turn around and keep clicking away.
I’m a slave that stays at her desk waiting to fill out more and more paperwork and it
doesn’t help that I keep going. ‘Clicking away at the keyboard’.

My writing

Dad
My dad is always busy and he is always working. He promised he would fly my kite with me today, but he says he’s busy doing work. As I watched him work he told me he would fly the kite tomorrow. The next day he did more work and the day he would fly the kite with me never came.
My goals for my writing
1. Write sentences that are grammatically correct.
2.  Use a variety of sentence structures, beginnings and lengths to give effect.

How to find the area of a circle and rectangle

Today I will teach you how to find the area of a rectangle and circle.
A=l x w

RECTANGLE
Say that the length is 4m and the width is 7m,
you would do 4x7=28 square metre and that is the area of the rectangle.

What is the difference between a square and a rectangle? - Quora
CIRCLE
Area of circle =3.142 x r x r

Say that the radius is 5m that means you have to multiply the radius twice and to find the area.
3.142 x 5 x 5 =78.55 sq metre and that is how you find the area of a circle.

Maths-circumference & diameter

Today we measured how many foot lengths it would take to measure the diameter of the big circle in the middle of our court. I got 12 steps to find the circumference we had to multiply our number of steps by 3.14, it equals 37.68m

Pi x d
3.14 x 12
=37.68m.

Tech This week

For tech this term I have been doing Cooking and Electronics. In cooking today I made pasta, it tasted good. In Electronics I have been making a target to throw haki saks at. Next week I hope to finish my target and test it out.

Maths

In maths we have been learning how to- Multiply, Divide, Add and Subtract Unlike fractions. It has been quite confusing because I have never done it before. I am not that good at doing it either. One day I will be able to do them very easily.

Learning Languages

For the past one or two weeks I have been learning to speak French and Hawaiian for the William Pike Challenge. I think that learning Hawaiian is easier than learning French. I have been learning how to say hello and thank you in both languages. In French Hello is- Bonjour of Salut and in Hawaiian Hello is- Aloha. Thank you in French is- Merci and Thank you in Hawaiian is- Mahalo.

Tech Cooking

Today we went to tech on the bus, we did two classes. We did sewing first and then cooking. Cooking was my favourite class. We made Cheese puffs, I didn't really like them. They were like cheese scones. I had a fun time but it was kind of different because we had to put a lot of hand sanitiser on our hands. Overall I had a great time a tech.

Marble Hills High School Preview

Hello everyone I am here to tell you about my friend Bluebell's and Mak's book that I am editing.
Tell me if you want to read the rest of it.

-Prologue-
The Narrator
It was an average boring chilly day in Vermont, Marble Hills high school was getting ready for the first day of the year. Our three main characters were getting themselves ready as well.
Read on to view these characters
Angelo was a rebel, there is no other word to describe him, he
had dry blonde hair that falls over half his face hiding him from the school and the teachers who never really knew his identity. He had dull blue eyes that had long since lost the colour in them. He was wearing a loose black  t shirt that was tucked into his jeans. He had a huge black puffer jacket with even bigger puffed sleeves, the rips across his jeans were ragged and dirty. His expression was almost inexpressibly sour. And he was always plastered to the side of his best friend. Jordan Pinewood. Jordan was a bit depressed and never cracked even a small smile. He kept his face as still as a rock. He wore a black t-shirt that was as plain as his boring facial expression. He had faded grey jeans. His eyes were a pale green, with a twinge of brown.
His hair was  dark brown and short, quite a lot like Jake Ryan's hair from ‘Sixteen Candles.’ Our story begins from the point of view of Clarissa Blue, A nerdy Junior who takes pride in being the world's best dungeon master. She would spend long hours with her nose tucked in a book. Her favourite genre was fantasy novels. Clarissa had long black hair that had  brown highlights at the tips, she was wearing a black and white striped shirt with a light pink sweater over top, her shorts were splattered with a variety of coloured paint spots. Her eyes were a crystal green shade with a bit of blue, and she had her hair always tidily tucked behind her ears.
This is where our story begins...
I hope you like it.

Pascall Snifter Lumps review

Snifter Lumps
Looks like: they look like a chocolate brick.
Feels like: smooth and dusty
Smells like: Chocolate and minty
Tastes like: Minty and chocolatey it turns gooey and candy cane like

Pineapple Lumps

Looks like: A bumpy chocolate brick
Feels like: Bumpy and rough
Smells like: Chocolate and tropical
Tastes like: Chocolatey and pineapple like.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ I think they taste like toothpaste but the good minty toothpaste. I think they look like smooth chocolates bricks. They could build a house but it would not be good in summer. The chocolate is quite overpowering and makes my teeth hurt. I think that they are harder than pineapple lumps. They taste like peppermint candy canes a bit as well. I like them but don’t love them (that is just weird). I like both of them equally. I would recommend them to people who like minty chocolate.

What I know now?

I have learned about working in groups for dancing with Nogo. We did small groups and big groups. We also learned about the Key Competencies which TRUMP stands for. We learned about what it takes to be a good team member. The small groups work better in dancing because there are less people in the groups and there is less talking. We all contributed in the groups adding moves to our dances. We had to put shape changes, Cannons, Forward Back, Left Right and we didn't know what song we were dancing to.
T- Thinking.
R- Relating to others.
U- Understanding language symbols and text.
M- Managing self.
P- Participating and Contributing.
